Well, since a few people have asked me about this, I thought I would give it a go :) It's an oekaki realism tutorial! I really hope this comes in useful - if you want to ask me anything more about my methods, please go ahead!

In this tutorial I have drawn Monica from Friends. If you have any comments on the final piece, I'd be happy to hear them too :XD: I had to put it in "Miscellaneous" since oekaki doesn't seem to appear in any other Digital Art Tutorials category!

Thanks to friendscafe.org for the reference picture, and ~photoshoprangerstock for the coffee ring brushes!

It kills me that the definition for Oekaki is "doodle or scribble" this is far from a doodle or scribble! Great job. And funny that we both put out a tutorial at the same time!

:giggle: I know - I went to my deviation inbox after I'd submitted this and saw your tutorial, and LOLed! What a coincidence ^^

Thank you! Yeah, oekaki can be much more than just doodles! :D

That's astounding! It's amazing how the image changes throughout its progression. Thanks for showing so many screencaps of the steps, it makes things a lot easier to follow.

:glomp: Thank you! I was a bit iffy about how many caps to put in as the image was getting, well, huge! :giggle:

I'm at loss for words here. That looks like a photograph, I probably wouldn't even believe otherwise unless I had seen the animation! Your talent is amazing, I'm especially loving the hair, it's beautifully done.

I wish I could get that amount of detail in my digital paintings or my oil paintings. I hate having to paint hair!
